Devotion 1 of 2: 1 Tim 1
1) For the lawless and insubordinate, ungodly and sinners, etc. (v.9-10) because they need the law to show them the wrongs of their behavior.
2) Because Paul was counted to be faithful (v.12), because he blasphemed and persecuted the church in ignorance (v.13), and because Jesus wanted to show Paul as a model of someone receiving mercy, forgiveness of sins and everlasting life (v.15-16).

Devotion 2 of 2: Song 2
I believe the Shulamite is described as the rose of Sharon in v.1. I love this expression. Bible scholars have many varying opinions of what flower the word translated “rose” is. I would like to think it was a beautiful flower that reflects the beauty of the bride of Christ. And “Sharon” is considered to be the plain area from Tel Aviv to Caesarea along the Mediterranean coast. Chinese Christians often choose a Bible name for themselves. Once a sister in a Chinese church asked me what Biblical name I would suggest for her. So I answered, “Sharon” because I like the sound of that name and because it refers to the bride
