Devotion 1 of 2: Esth 5
1) Esther would have been killed. This was a custom to prevent assassinations of the king.
2) He decided to build a gallows to hang Mordecai on (v.14). Satan plotted the cross on which to hang and kill Jesus, but Jesus reversed the table and nailed Satan, our sins and our curses on the cross instead, and thereby provided forgiveness of sin, deliverance from Satan’s curses and eternal life to those who believe!

Devotion 2 of 2: Esth 6
Esther delayed her request to the king one day (5:6-8). This allowed 2 things: 1. Haman to prepare the gallows for Mordecai (5:14), and 2. the king to not sleep and discover the forgotten record of Mordecai saving his life but not being rewarded for it (6:1-3)! This is a beautiful example of God’s sovereignly over the timing of events in this book. God did this to remind us in the last days that he is sovereign over all events in the endtime to bring his perfect plan to perfect fulfillment!
