Devotion 1 of 2: 1 Cor 15

1) Jesus’ death: Jesus took all of the sins of mankind upon himself and died as our substitute.
Jesus’ burial: He was buried for 3 days, during which time his soul went to the place of suffering in Hades to pay the penalty for our sins.
Jesus’ resurrection: Then he arose from the dead to give us hope of resurrection and eternal life in heaven! These 3 acts of Jesus are vitally important because they provided a way for mankind to be saved from an eternity in hell and be given an eternity in heaven!
2) Jesus’ resurrected body was seen by the 12 disciples, James, Paul and over 500 believers (v.6). Many of them were martyred for their faith and for claiming that Jesus rose from the dead, but none of them recanted their testimony, confessing that the resurrection was a hoax! This is strong evidence that the resurrection was true as it’s inconceivable that so many people would die for a lie!

Devotion 2 of 2: Ezek 43

The altar appears in v.13-27. It was the place where various animal sacrifices were offered for the purification of sin. This speaks of Calvary, the cross, the sacrifice that Jesus paid for the forgiveness of our sins. It was tall (v.13-15), 1 cubit (52 cm) for the height of the base, 2 cubits from the base to the lower ledge, 4 cubits to the next, larger ledge, and finally, the altar hearth itself was 4 cubits tall, making it 11 cubits tall (5 m 72 cm)! And it was also large (v.16), with the altar hearth being 12 cubits X 12 cubits square (624 cm x 624 cm = 38.9376 sq. m.). I believe the height symbolizes the cross coming from heaven as God’s plan to save man and the large size symbolizes the cross is for every human being; Christ died for every person, so that whoever calls on the name of the Lord can be saved. Thank you, Jesus, for what you did to save us!
