Devotion 1 of 3: Jer 42

Once more, the people’s attitude toward Nebuchadnezzar is the problem. Jeremiah warned the people not to fear Nebuchadnezzar and run away to Egypt but rather, to stay in Judah, because God would protect them (v.10-11). We’ve seen this same theme throughout this book. When we apply this to our day, it means the church should not fear antichrist and want to avoid him by making a teaching like the pre-trib rapture. Rather, we should understand that we will face AC but God will allow us to overcome him for 3.5 years, and only when we have accomplished our mission of world evangelism & revival will God allow AC to overcome the LDC, so it will be OK!

Devotion 2 of 3: John 20

1) Because she was in such a terrible state (possessed by 7 demons – Mark 16:9) before she met Jesus, so he wanted to use her as an example to show why he died and rose again, how it can save and transform even the worse and most hopeless life into something wonderful and beautiful.
2) I think Peter was a muscular, heavily-built man who often acted quickly, without careful planning! And John was leaner and could run faster, but who was cautious and careful in his actions.

Devotion 3 of 3: Rom 14

1) Because Jesus freed us from the law, including esteeming one day as better than another (v.5-6). Also, because on Sunday, Jesus rose from the dead, the Holy Spirit was poured out and the church was birthed, so the church decided to shift the day of worship from Sat. to Sun. Yes, it was all right to change the day of worship, but actually, any day would be okay!
2) No, Jesus wasn’t born on 12/25. Christians began to celebrate 12/25 as Jesus’ birthday from about the 4th century AD. Some historians believe it was done to help Roman citizens to switch from paganism to Christianity because that date coincided with pagan festivals. For many years I felt it wasn’t right to celebrate Christmas because of its pagan origins, but later I felt it was okay if we can use it for evangelism.
