Devotion 1 of 2: John 14
Jesus teaches much about the Father and the Holy Spirit in this chapter. And in v.28 he says, “…the Father is greater than I.” But Christian doctrine about the Trinity teaches that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are co-equal divinities. So I was puzzled about whether the Father is greater than the Son or whether they were co-equal. I researched for the answer and found one helpful resource which said that when Jesus became a man, he took the form of a servant, and so he came under the Father. So as a man, Jesus is below the Father, but as God, he is equal to the Father. I thought that was a good answer, but I’ll continue to research about this topic to see if I can discover more about the mysteries of our Triune God.

Devotion 2 of 2: Ps 92
This is a psalm for the Sabbath day, and it is also a psalm of victory. Verses 6-7 say that fools do not understand that though evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed. This theme is repeated in many psalms. This is a universal problem affecting every person. We see bad people seeming to take advantage of others and not being punished, but prospering instead, and we wonder, why does God allow this? But in the end, as these verses say, the evildoer will be destroyed! So we should not envy the wicked, but pity them!
