Devotion 1 of 2: 1 Pet 3

Human spirits are pure, and when we die, I believe all spirits go back to God, whether we are saved or unsaved (Eccl 12:7). For the unsaved, I believe it’s only the soul and body that go to hell, but for the saved, I believe the spirit, soul and body will be in heaven. So if the spirits of unbelievers return to God upon death, why were some spirits from Noah’s age imprisoned? I believe it was because they were somehow corrupted. When we examine Noah’s age, the likely answer is they were the spirits of women (and their hybrid children, the mighty men of renown) who had intercourse with the sons of God, who were actually fallen angels, or evil spirits (Gen 6:4). Job 1:6 also talks about these sons of God, who were obviously angels. Fallen angels are spirits, so somehow, through intercourse, I believe the spirits of these women, as well as their children, were corrupted. This stopped their spirits from returning to God, so they were imprisoned, or kept in a special place, until Jesus went, preached to them, and released them to be able to return to God. This is my interpretation of 1 Pet 3:19-20.

Devotion 2 of 2: Ps 72

In applying this psalm to my children, v.17b caught my eye. “Then all nations will be blessed through him, and they will call him blessed.” I prayed that my children would bless the people they come into contact with, and, in turn, they would be called a blessing by others.
