Devotion 1 of 2: Deut 26

I think it means Israel didn’t have to tithe for the 1st 2 years because they needed to fight to take the land and they needed to start their farms. This probably took about 2 years, so they only needed to tithe after they were able to. We can apply this to our giving by not forcing ourselves to give when we cannot, like when we lose our jobs, or must take care of a large debt, etc.

Devotion 2 of 2: Rom 10

A passage that shows Israel in connection to man’s free will is v.12-13: For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
