Devotion 2 of 2: Mark 13

The fig tree is often a symbol of Israel in the Bible. In v.28-31, I believe what Jesus meant by the fig tree’s figs getting tender and its leaves coming out was Israel being reborn as a nation, which took place in 1948. Jesus also said in v.30 that the generation that saw these signs would be the last generation. A Bible generation can be 40 years, or 70 years, or as long as 100 years. So, if we apply 70 years and 100 years to 1948, we would end up with 2018 to 2048. I believe the end of this world age falls within these years.
