Devotion 1 of 2: Deut 10
One spiritual lesson I learned was God is willing to give us a second chance! He gave Israel a 2nd chance to continue their journey and enter the Promised Land (v.11), even after they worshiped the golden calf (9:16); he gave Moses a 2nd chance to lead Israel, even after he broke the 1st tablets (9:17); and he gave the priesthood a 2nd chance to function and succeed by taking it away from the 1stborn of all the tribes (Ex 19:6; Num 3:12) and giving it to Levi only (v.8).

Devotion 2 of 2: Mark 10
Jesus was trying to make the rich man understand that he lacked doing the 1st four commandments, which can be summed up as: Love God. The last 6 commandments can be summed up as: Love your neighbor as yourself. He didn’t lack in the last 6 commandments (v.20), but he couldn’t do the 1st four because his wealth was more important to him than God! He couldn’t give up his wealth and follow Jesus (v.21-22), whom he called “good.” Jesus taught him the meaning of calling Jesus “good” – it was recognizing Jesus as God (v.18)!
