Devotion 1 of 2: Job 17

A phrase that shows Job going through depression is found in v.1: “My spirit is broken, my days are cut short, the grave awaits me.” As a counselor, we should notice if a person is depressed and try to find the best way for him to be lifted out of depression.

Devotion 2 of 2: Matt 17

3 things we can learn about Elijah in v.1-13 are: 1) When Elijah comes, he will restore all things (v.11). 2) Elijah had already come through John the Baptist (v.12-13). 3) Elijah will come once more in the last days because Jesus said in Matt 16:28 that, before they die, some of his disciples would see Jesus coming in his kingdom, which means the 2nd coming! And what did Peter, James and John see on the Mt. of Transfiguration (v.1)? They saw Jesus talking with Moses and Elijah (v.3)! So I believe that Moses and Elijah are the 2 witnesses of Rev 11, who symbolize the glorious last day church. They will restore God’s presence and anointing to the church and experience the 2nd coming of Christ upon the earth!
