Devotion 1 of 1: Isa 64
This chapter is a prayer by the Jews during their Captivity in Babylon. This applies to the present-day church interceding to God for complete restoration.
Their cry is for God to rend the heavens, come down and shake mountains with his presence (v.1). In the same way, today’s church should be seeking God to shake the church and its surroundings with his awesome presence!
The Jews realized that it was their sins that caused them to be taken captive (v.6). Restoration and revival always begin with recognizing our sins! Let’s repent of our sins and cry out to God to restore us.
1 TIM 4: Free sharing!
Paul says in v.1 that in the endtime some will depart from the faith by being deceived and accepting doctrines of demons. In every generation there are people who leave the faith, so I believe what Paul is describing is a great number of believers leaving the faith.
In 2 Thes 2:3a, Paul said the same thing: “Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed…” Deception will be one of the main causes of people stumbling, as Matt 24:5 warns: “For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.”
Two more reasons for the falling away are persecution and lawlessness abounding, as seen in Matt 24:9-11: “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.”
We are fast approaching the endtime! Let’s maintain a strong faith and close relationship to Jesus so we will not stumble! And let’s pray for the church in Japan to be protected so the minimum number of believers will fall away!
