Devotion 1 of 2: Isa 41

(v.2-4) In this chapter God challenges the gods of heathen idols to predict and shape the future, which, he declares, only he can do!
(v.5-7) The heathen nations saw it and feared, so they helped each other and fastened their idols with pegs so they wouldn’t fall.
(v.8-20) God has chosen the descendants of Abraham to be his servants, though he calls Jacob (Israel) a worm (v.14) because of their weaknesses. He promises not to cast them away but to help them and scatter their enemies (v.16).
(v.21-28) Once more, God challenges idols to foretell the future to prove they are true gods, but they cannot, so he dismisses them as nothing.

Devotion 2 of 2: Gal 4

(2/2) He then gives an example of his prophetic power by predicting one from the north (v.25), which was King Cyrus of Persia, would give Jerusalem good tidings (v.27). This was fulfilled when Cyrus released the Jewish captives in Babylon and sent them back to Jerusalem (Is 45:1, 13; Ezra 1:1-4).
Prophecy is one of the best ways to prove that God is real! Let’s study prophecy so we can have strong assurance that God is genuine and so that we can share with people who have an open heart toward God!

GAL 4: Free sharing!
When we don’t understand God’s grace in the work of salvation, we come under legalism (the law). Here are some characteristics of legalism:
1) It makes us slaves, not children of God (v.1, 7).
2) It puts us in bondage to elements of the world, like days, months, seasons and years (v.3, 10, 24).
3) It gives us a wrong image of God so that we don’t really know God (v.8).
4) It makes us serve things that are not God, or not of God (v.8).
Let’s seek to understand God’s grace in a deep way and never be deceived into a life of legalism!
