Devotion 1 of 2: Lev 27
This chapter is about redeeming people, animals, houses and land dedicated or given to God. Also, v.28-29 speak about a devoted offering, which is different from a dedicated offering, so I’d like to share about that. A devoted offering could not be sold or redeemed, but had to be destroyed or put to death!
An example of a devoted offering can be seen in Israel’s battle against Amalek in 1 Sam 15. God wanted King Saul to completely destroy all the people and livestock of Amalek. They were to be a devoted offering to God! But sadly Saul preserved the king and the best of the livestock (v.9). God said for that, he was rejecting Saul from continuing as Israel’s king (1 Sam 15:23).
An example of a devoted offering to us would be something that hinders us from fully serving Jesus so we give it up for God. For Paul, it was marriage. For Eric Riddell, the 1924 Olympic Gold winner in the 400M, it was Paris Olympic fame and glory. He left all of that to become a missionary to China in 1925!

Devotion 2 of 2: Acts 27
(2/2)
It is inspiring to see Paul’s growth in status from a prisoner whose advice is ignored (v.9-11) to a highly respected prophet and influential leader (v.42-43). What made the difference? Paul’s prophetic words of knowledge. What he said came true, in v.10 and v.18, in v.22-26 and v.44, in v.30-32, and in v.33-36!
Let’s us be a prophetic people who can give advice through words of knowledge that will help people in their needs and open their hearts to Christ!
