Devotion 1 of 2: Job 30

After the glorious chapter of Job reliving his blessed life before tragedy struck (chapter 29), Job brings us back to his present miserable state (v.1, etc.) that he didn’t deserve because he hadn’t committed any sin worthy of that kind of judgment! I am learning through this book that the only way to overcome the horrible situation Job fell into is to decide that no matter what happens to me, I will never allow Satan to defeat me and separate me from faith in God! Our battle is with Satan, not God, and we should never let him destroy our relationship with Jesus, who is our wonderful Savior and who loved us so much that he died for us and has prepared a glorious place in heaven for us for all eternity!

Devotion 2 of 2: Heb 2

(2/2)
1) Paul wrote to Jews who believed in Christ but who were being persecuted for their faith. The purpose for writing was to show them how great salvation through Jesus was (v.3) so that they wouldn’t give up their faith.
2) In order to encourage Jewish Christians to keep their faith, Paul had to teach them who Jesus really was. That’s why he wrote chapter 1, and he continues teaching about Jesus in v.5-8, showing how the Father has put all things in subjection under Jesus’ feet (v.8). He also explained why Jesus suffered and was killed by saying: It was to be perfected through suffering (v.10b), to bring many sons to glory (v.10a), to destroy the devil (v.14b) and to release people from bondage to the fear of death (v.15)! Studying Hebrews will also make us stronger in our faith!
