Devotion 2 of 2: Judg 14
Samson’s nature is evident very quickly. He doesn’t like to be put into a box, he’s very self-confident, and he likes challenges! He doesn’t want to marry a woman from his own people, but from the Philistines, the Jews’ enemies (v.2-3)! He killed a lion with his bare hands (v.6)! And he challenges the Philistines to solve his riddle (v.12-14). But because of his character flaws, he suffered terribly and instead of ruling, he was ruled over by the Philistines! But in the end, the Lord showed mercy and restored Samson’s strength and gave him a revenge victory over his enemies.
