Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 62
We can learn how to evaluate man through this psalm. David declares in v.7, “In God is my salvation and my glory…” David was a great man and king, but he points out that he got his value from God, who was his glory!
Then, in v.9, he says, “Surely men of low degree are a vapor, men of high degree are a lie...” In other words, man, without God, is only a vapor, something that lasts only a few seconds and then disappears! And even famous men are only a lie! Let’s not be a vapor; let’s increase our value by becoming closer and closer to Jesus!
Devotion 2 of 2: Phil 2
We can learn the importance of humility to achieve unity through this chapter. This will be critical in the endtime, when the church will face many persecutions, which will threaten to divide the body of Christ. Some will say we should worship AC’s image in order to survive, while others will urge all to remain faithful to Christ.
What should we do? We should not compromise, but we should not get angry and fight, either. Let’s be like Jesus in v.5-11. Let’s act like children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked generation and shine as lights (v.15-16)!
