Devotion 1 of 2: Deut 12
God strictly commands Israel about where and how they should worship because he didn’t want them to be influenced by the idol worship of the nations around them, fall into idolatry (v.30) and end up sacrificing their children (v.31). One lesson we can learn from this is that when we compromise with the world and accept their standards, we will end up sacrificing our children. Our children will not follow us in faith but will follow the world.

Devotion 2 of 2: Mark 12
The owner of the vineyard is God (v.1) and the vineyard is his covenant blessings. The farmers are Israelis (v.1), who don’t obey God, and don’t produce fruit from the blessings God has given to them (v.3). Instead, they kill God’s messengers, the prophets (v.5), and even kill the owner’s son, who is Jesus (v.8)! So in the end, the owner killed the farmers (v.9) and gave the vineyard to others! This was fulfilled by God cutting off his covenant with Israel and offering it to the Gentiles!
