Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 15
This psalm gives some characteristics about the person who may abide in God’s tabernacle, or presence. One characteristic is described in v.4b, “He who swears to his own hurt and does not change…”
What does this mean? I think it means a person who vows he will do something because he believes it will be good for him, but circumstances shift, and now it no longer seems to be good. But he doesn’t change and does it anyway because he wants to keep his vow. Let’s endeavor to be this kind of person. This applies especially to marriage!

Devotion 2 of 2: Mark 15
This chapter describes the crucifixion of Christ. V.34 says, “And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
Quoting this verse, the Unification Church teaches Jesus’ death was a failure because God rejected Him on the cross. But they don’t understand the Bible. God rejected the Son because He became sin for us to save us, and God could not look upon the awful, sinful image of His Son. So, it wasn’t a failure, but God’s way of saving us.
