Devotion 1 of 2: Job 35
In this chapter Elihu says that Job thinks he is more right than God (v.2) and that he thinks living righteously doesn’t have any profit over living in sin (v.3)! This was because Job lived purely yet he was suffering.
Elihu’s answer was Job’s living in sin or righteousness doesn’t affect God (v.6-7), but his fellow man because they are oppressed by our sins and helped by our good acts (v.8-9). Elihu adds God will act in justice, but Job must wait for it (v.14), and by not waiting, Job is speaking vanity (v.16). Let’s learn how to advise like Elihu.

この章でエリフは、ヨブが自分の義は神からだと言い（2節）、また、罪を犯さなければ、どんな利益があるかと言っている（3節）と指摘しました。これは、ヨブが正しく生きたのに、苦難を受けていたからです。
エリフの答えは、ヨブが正しくても、正しくなくても、神に影響を与えることはできない（6-7節）が、自分の悪が周囲の人々をしいたげ、正しさが人々を助ける影響を与えられる（8-9節）というものでした。エリフのような助言の仕方を学びましょう。

Devotion 2 of 2: Job 36
What Elihu says in this chapter about God are the usual things, like God is mighty (v.5) and gives justice to the oppressed (v.6) and makes the righteous sit on thrones (v.7), etc. But the problem was that Job was not experiencing that. In fact, he was going through the opposite!
That’s why Job was so angry and complained a lot. So Elihu’s mission as a counselor was not easy at all. Let’s put ourselves in Elihu’s shoes and imagine what we would say to someone like Job in our church!

この章でエリフが神について語っているのは、よくあることです。例えば、神は強い（5節）、虐げられた者に権利を与える（6節）、正しい者を王座に着ける（7節）などです。しかし問題は、ヨブがそれを経験していなかったことです。実際は、正反対のことを経験していたのです！
だからこそヨブは怒り、不平をこぼしていたのです。ですから、助言者としてのエリフの使命は決して容易なものではありませんでした。エリフの立場に立って、教会にいるヨブのような人に何を伝えるか想像してみましょう。
