Devotion 1 of 2: Job 30
In v.1-15, Job describes the people who mocked and judged him. He describes them as younger than him (v.1) and as sons of fools and as vile men who were scourged from the land (v.8). Job may have been exaggerating some, but there are people in today’s society who repeatedly disdain others, and often, their character is not good.
We don’t want to become people who mock and insult others for their wrongs. Let’s ask the Lord to help us guard our hearts from looking down on others and to pray for them instead.

Devotion 2 of 2: Matt 26
In v.6-13, we find the story of Mary (John 12:1) pouring costly fragrant oil on Jesus because she loved and wanted to honor Him. The disciples criticized her, but Jesus defended her and said she was doing it for His burial (v.10-12). Her pure act of love has been told all over the world for 2000 years (v.13)!
My daughter Lizanne gave me 3 bottles of oil for my wife’s face and hands. I’ve been applying them every time I visit Yoshiko, telling her the oil will keep her beautiful. Because she’s bed-ridden, I try to lift my wife’s spirit whenever I can.

6-13節には、マリヤ（ヨハネ12:1）がイエスを愛し、敬いたいと願って高価な香油をイエスに注いだ物語があります。弟子たちはマリヤを非難しましたが、イエスはマリヤを擁護し、ご自分の埋葬のためにそうしているのだと言いました（10-12節）。彼女の純粋な愛の行為は、2000年もの間、世界中で語り継がれてきました（13節）。
娘のリザンが妻の顔と手に塗る香油を3本くれました。よし子を見舞うたびに、この香油を塗って、妻が美しくいられるようにと伝えています。妻は寝たきりなので、できる限り妻の気持ちを明るくしようと努めています。
