Devotion 1 of 2: Job 31

In this chapter Job defends his own righteousness. He claims that he didn’t lust after women (v.1, 9) or neglect the poor (v.16-20) or make gold his hope (v.24-27), etc. In other words, he lived a very wonderful, pure life!
So, sin was not the cause of Job’s terrible sufferings. Rather, it was Satan attacking him to make Job curse God. God believed Job could overcome, so He allowed it! But because Job didn’t know about chapters 1 & 2, he doubted God and ended up complaining! But we know, so let’s not complain but confess all things work for good!

Devotion 2 of 2: Matt 27

This chapter is about the crucifixion of Christ. But the Jews didn’t understand its significance. This is what they said in v.40, “If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross,” and in v.42, “He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him.”
They didn’t realize that Jesus was dying to provide mankind forgiveness of sins and a way to eternal life in heaven. They didn’t know that they were witnessing the most significant event in human history! Let’s thank Jesus for the cross!
