Devotion 1 of 2: Gen 39
Joseph was called to rule, but he had to pass 3 tests before he could fulfill his calling. He was tested by his brothers (37:18-28), by Potiphar’s wife (39:7-20), and by the butler who was released from jail (40:5-23).
So, Joseph was angry against them! But God told him to rule over anger, to learn to forgive, or anger would destroy him. So, Joseph learned to rule on the inside, and when he passed the test, God allowed him to rule on the outside, over all Egypt! Let’s also learn to rule our inside so we can rule on the outside, over Japan in revival!

Devotion 2 of 2: Gen 40
When the butler and baker told Joseph they had had dreams but no one to interpret them, Joseph answered, “Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell them to me, please” (v.8b). This tells us that Joseph still believed his dreams of becoming a ruler, even though they had not yet come true!
He didn’t say, “You can’t trust dreams!” or “They’re meaningless!” He was still holding on to his dream, despite having been enslaved and now imprisoned! In spite of Christians being less than 1% in Japan, let’s hold fast to God’s promise of revival in every nation (Rev 7:9-14)! It will happen in Japan!
