Devotion 1 of 2: Gen 37
The story of Joseph begins here and continues until Gen 50. Through his story, we can learn about restoration. Restoration of Joseph to his family, Joseph to Judah who betrayed him, and Joseph to his original calling of being a ruler.
Joseph’s original calling of ruling is revealed by 2 dreams in v.5-11. But before ruling, he was tested by being made a slave (v.28) and prisoner! He passed the tests through faith and forgiveness and finally became a ruler! As Joseph was restored, the church will also be restored to its calling of ruling over sin and darkness in the endtime!

Devotion 2 of 2: Gen 38
This chapter describes how Judah’s daughter-in-law Tamar deceived Judah into having intercourse and birthing twin boys as a result (v.11-30). This story is significant because one of the boys, Perez, appears in the genealogy of David and Jesus. I believe God acknowledged Tamar’s boldness to defy tradition to get an heir.
Revival application: Paul defied the traditions of Judaism to get Gentile heirs. Martin Luther went against Catholic traditions to produce Protestant heirs. We must also defy Christian traditions to get endtime revival heirs!

この章では、ユダの嫁タマルがユダを欺いて性交させ、双子の男の子を産んだ様子が描かれています（11-30節）。この物語は、その男の子の一人であるペレツがダビデとイエスの系図に登場することから、重要な意味を持ちます。神は、相続人を得るために伝統に逆らったタマルの大胆さを認められたと私は信じています。
リバイバルへの応用：パウロは異邦人の相続人を得るためにユダヤ教の伝統に逆らいました。マルティン・ルターはプロテスタントの相続人を得るためにカトリックの伝統に逆らいました。私たちも、終末リバイバルの相続人を得るために、キリスト教の伝統（患難前携挙の教え等）に逆らわなければならないかもしれません。
