Devotion 1 of 2: Gen 17
In this chapter, God confirms His covenant with Abram (v.1-8). Circumcision was the sign of that covenant (v.9-14). We receive water baptism as the sign of our covenant of grace with God (Col 2:11-12). But Abram, our Father of Faith, still had doubts that he at 100 years of age and Sarai at 90 could bear a child (v.17-18)!
In spite of his weakness, God showed mercy and kept His promise to Abram because he circumcised himself and his household (v.23-27)! Despite our weaknesses, if we cry out to God, He will help us fulfill our calling, too!

この章で、神はアブラムとの契約を確証されます（1-8節）。割礼はその契約のしるしでした（9-14節）。私たちは神との恵みの契約のしるしとして、水のバプテスマを受けます（コロサイ2:11-12）。しかし、信仰の父アブラムは、100歳になる自分と90歳になるサライが子供を産めるかどうか、まだ疑念を抱いていました（17-18節）。
アブラムの弱さにもかかわらず、神は憐れみを示し、約束を守られました。なぜなら、アブラムは自身と家族に割礼を受けたからです（23-27節）。私たちも弱さを抱えながらも、神に叫び求めるなら、神は召命も果たせるように助けてくださいます。

Devotion 2 of 2: Gen 18
In v.1-15, Sarai also shows her doubts about conceiving Abram’s child in old age to 3 men, who, I believe, were the Triune God visiting earth! But why did God give Sarai a child in spite of her unbelief?
I believe part of the reason was because Abram interceded for the salvation of Sodom and Gomorrah in v.16-33! And I believe God will enable us to fulfill our calling to produce spiritual children in the LDR despite our immature faith if we, too, have a burden and fervently intercede for the salvation of our cities and nation! Let’s pray for Japan!

1-15節では、サライは3人の人に、高齢でアブラムの子を身ごもることについて疑問を抱いています。私は、この3人が地上を訪れた三位一体の神であると信じます。しかし、なぜ神はサライの不信仰にもかかわらず、子を授けたのでしょうか？
その理由の一つは、アブラムが16-33節でソドムとゴモラの救いのために執り成しをしたからだと私は信じます。そして、私たちも、自分たちの町と国の救いのために重荷を負い、熱心に執り成しをするなら、神は私たちの信仰が未熟であっても、終末リバイバルで霊的な子を大勢産むという召命を果たせるようにしてくださると信じます。日本のために執り成しましょう！
