Devotion 1 of 2: Gen 15
How long is a Bible generation? This is important because Jesus said the generation that saw Israel reborn as a nation (fig tree budding) would be the last generation (Luke 21:29-33). Israel was reborn in 1948.
God told Abram that his descendants would be in a strange land for 400 years (v.13) and they would return to their land in the 4th generation (v.16), making 1 generation 100 years. If we apply this to 1948, it would mean this present world would end on or before 2048. Let’s pray fervently for God’s endtime plan to come to pass!

Devotion 2 of 2: Gen 16
This chapter describes Abram and Sarai’s huge mistake in getting a child through fleshly means. They allowed Sarai’s maid Hagar to sleep with Abram, and she birthed Ishmael as a result (v.1-4, 15). But God rejected Ishmael as Abram’s heir and declared that Sarai would bear Abram a son, Isaac, and he would be the heir (17:18-19).
However, Ishmael became an exceedingly great multitude with a wild man’s nature (16:12). His descendants became the Arab people, the greatest enemy of the Jews today. Our flesh can cause great damage to our future!
