Devotion 1 of 2: Ezra 7
This chapter describes Ezra, who led the 2nd return of Jews from Babylon to Judah. Here are the 3 returns: 1) In 538 BC, led by Zerubbabel. They rebuilt the temple. 2) In 458 BC, led by Ezra, who restored the Law and purity. 3) In 445/444 BC, led by Nehemiah, who restored the walls of Jerusalem.
Ezra was a direct descendant of Aaron, a priest but also a scribe, skilled in the Law (v.1-6).
Spiritual application: By believing in Jesus, we have been made His descendants and priests in the New Covenant (1 Pet 2:9). Now we want to study the Bible to become skilled in the Word of God!

この章は、ユダヤ人のユダへの2度目のバビロンからの帰還を導いたエズラについて述べています。3度の帰還とは、1) 紀元前538年、ゼルバベルが率いた帰還で、神殿を再建しました。2) 紀元前458年、エズラが率いた帰還で、律法と清浄を回復しました。3) 紀元前445/444年、ネヘミヤが率いた帰還で、エルサレムの城壁を再建しました。
エズラはアロンの直系の子孫であり、祭司であると同時に律法学者でもあり、律法に精通していました（1-6節）。

Devotion 2 of 2: Ezra 8
This chapter describes the many men who joined Ezra from Babylon to Judah. V.16, 18 call them “men of understanding,” and v.28 calls them, “holy to the Lord.” They were obviously strong men of faith because v.31 says that Ezra’s group, despite carrying much silver and gold, was not ambushed on their way to Jerusalem!
Endtime application: In the LDR, let’s pray that many men, good, solid, strong men, will be led to Jesus, along with many women! The church has been unbalanced for a long time with many more women than men, but in the LDR, let’s believe the number of men will draw closer to the number of women!
