Devotion 1 of 2: Ezra 1
Ezra and Nehemiah are restoration books, describing Judah returning to the land after 70 years of captivity. This restoration was prophesied beforehand, which God always does when He restores.
An example of such a prophecy is Jer 29:10, “For thus says the Lord: After seventy years are completed at Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word toward you, and cause you to return to this place.” Other examples are: Jer 25:11-12; 27:22; 30:3; 46:27; and Is 44:28 (Cyrus is named as the one who orders their return!).
In the same way, God has hidden truths about the restoration of the church in Scriptures. But it is the glory of kings to search out what God has hidden (Prov 25:2)! Let’s discover this amazing truth so we can cooperate with God to fulfill His endtime plan of revival!
Devotion 2 of 2: Ezra 2
V.1 says that King Nebuchadnezzar took the Jews captive to Babylon, and 1:1 says that King Cyrus of Persia caused them to return to Judah! God used these 2 heathen kings to fulfill His plan of both dispersing and restoring His people!
Endtime application: Most Christians fear AC and want to avoid him by being raptured before he appears. But actually, it’s God’s plan for us to encounter AC because he will be God’s servant to purify the church by making all Christians either hot or cold, like Jesus wants us to be! As He says in Rev 3:15, “I wish you were cold or hot!”
When AC persecutes the church in the LD, many Christians will compromise, worship AC’s image and take his mark, and will apostacize! But others will boldly defy AC and spark a great revival that will sweep across the world! Let’s prepare ourselves now to be hot for Jesus and not turn cold and compromise!
