Devotion 1 of 2: Ezek 39

This is another chapter describing the Battle of Armageddon. The battle will take place because AC will try to destroy Israel (v.2). This has been Satan’s desire from the beginning of time, from the Garden of Eden. In the Garden, God prophesied to the serpent, “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed…” (Gen 3:15).
The woman represents Israel, and her seed was her descendants, the Jews. The serpent represented Satan, and his seed was the people he worked through, like Pharaoh, Hitler, etc., when Satan tried to destroy the Jewish people.
But at Armageddon, Satan and AC, who is called Gog (v.1), will be defeated (v.3-8). It will take 7 months to bury AC’s vast army (v.11-16). And Israel will come to believe in the Lord God again (v.22-29)! PTL!

Devotion 2 of 2: 1 Cor 11

Paul deals with 2 more problems in the Corinth Church in this chapter. The 1st is head coverings for women (v.2-16). And the 2nd is proper conduct during the Lord’s Supper, or Communion (v.17-34). We will talk only about head coverings here.
Head coverings for women were used in Jewish culture to express that the woman was married and under her husband’s authority (v.5, 10). But this was not so in the Greek or Roman culture that would be found in the Grecian city of Corinth, hence the issue of some women not wearing scarfs in the church, which Paul wanted to correct.
But today women don’t need to wear head coverings because Paul also wrote that their hair is their covering (v.15)! Also, culturally, today women show their married by a wedding ring, not a scarf.
