Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 135
V.12 says, “And (God) gave their land as a heritage, a heritage to Israel His people.” This promise was made to Abraham in Gen 13:14-17, ‘And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever. And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered. Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you.” ’
Num 23:19a says, “God is not a man, that He should lie…” Why? Because God keeps His promises! What He says He will do, He does! God promised to give Canaan to Abraham and his descendants forever, and He kept His word! Two times Israel was driven off her land by famine and two times by enemy nations. They are listed below:
1) Abraham left Canaan because of famine, but he returned as a rich man (Gen 12:10-13:4)!
2) Jacob and his 12 sons and their families went to Egypt because of a famine (Gen 45:1-4). They grew to a nation there and after 400 years returned to Canaan under Moses and Joshua’s leadership (Josh 3).
3) Babylonian Captivity: The southern kingdom of Judah was taken captivity and returned 70 years later.
4) Diaspora: Rome destroyed Judea and scattered the Jews all over their empire in 70 AD. The Jews finally returned and re-established their nation in 1948, after 1878 years of absence—a miracle of miracles!
The story of Israel and their land shows us that God keeps His promises. Let’s believe that He will keep His promise of a great endtime revival in Rev 7:9-14!

12節には、「主は彼らの地を、相続の地とし、御民イスラエルに相続の地として与えられた。」とあります。この約束は、創13:14-17 でアブラハムになされました。『ロトがアブラムと別れて後、主はアブラムに仰せられた。「さあ、目を上げて、あなたがいる所から北と南、東と西を見渡しなさい。わたしは、あなたが見渡しているこの地全部を永久にあなたとあなたの子孫とに与えよう。わたしは、あなたの子孫を地のちりのようにならせる。もし人が地のちりを数えることができれば、あなたの子孫をも数えることができよう。立って、その地を縦と横に歩き回りなさい。わたしがあなたに、その地を与えるのだから。」』
民23:19aには、「神は人間ではなく、偽りを言うことがない。」とあります。なぜでしょうか? 神は約束を守るからです!神は約束したことは必ず行います。神はアブラハムとその子孫に永遠にカナンを与えると約束し、その約束を守りました。イスラエルは飢饉で2度、敵国によって2度、その地から追い出されました。それらは下に書いてあります。
1) アブラハムは飢饉のためにカナンを去りましたが、金持ちになって戻ってきました(創12:10-13:4)!
2) ヤコブと12人の息子たちとそれぞれの家族は飢饉のためにエジプトに行きました(創45:1-4)。彼らはそこで増えて、400年後にモーセとヨシュアの指導の下でカナンに戻りました(ヨシュア記3章)。
3) バビロン捕囚: ユダ王国は捕囚され、70年後に帰還しました。
4) ディアスポラ: ローマはユダヤを破壊し、ユダヤ人を紀元後70年に帝国中に散らしました。ユダヤ人は1878年の不在の後、1948年にようやく帰還し、国家を再建しました。まさに奇跡中の奇跡です！
イスラエルとその土地の物語は、神が約束を守ることを示しています。黙7:9-14にある偉大な終末リバイバルの約束を神が守ってくれることを信じましょう！
Devotion 2 of 2: Mark 16
Mark’s great commission is found in v.15-18, ’15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” ’
In Mark’s great commission, Jesus promises signs will follow those who believe. This is another very clear promise from Jesus that signs, miracles, casting out demons, healing the sick, etc., will happen if we believe!
In today’s OT reading of Ps 135, we learned how God’s promise of Canaan to Israel was kept after 1878 years of diaspora! Through this, we can have confidence that God’s promise of signs and miracles confirming the preaching of the Word in v.17-8 will also come true! “And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.” (v.20)
Jesus is already confirming the Word now, but I believe in the LDR, He will show many more signs to confirm His Word! Also, He will keep His promise that those who believe in Him will do even greater works than He did (John 14:12)! Let’s believe He keeps His promises! Let’s become John 14:12 believers!

マルコの大宣教命令は15-18節にあります。『15 それから、イエスは彼らにこう言われた。「全世界に出て行き、すべての造られた者に、福音を宣べ伝えなさい。16 信じてバプテスマを受ける者は、救われます。しかし、信じない者は罪に定められます。17 信じる人々には次のようなしるしが伴います。すなわち、わたしの名によって悪霊を追い出し、新しいことばを語り、18 蛇をもつかみ、たとい毒を飲んでも決して害を受けず、また、病人に手を置けば病人はいやされます。」』
マルコの大宣教命令では、イエスは信じる人々にはしるしが伴うと約束しています。これは、もし信じるならしるし、奇跡、悪霊追い出し、病人の癒しなどが起こるというイエスのもう一つの非常に明確な約束です！
今日の詩篇135篇の朗読では、1878年間の離散の末、イスラエルにカナンの地を与えるという神の約束がしっかり守られたと学びました。これを通して、私たちは17-18節にある神の約束、すなわち、伝えた御言葉を確かなものにするためのしるしが伴うという御業が実現すると確信できます。20節もそのことを語っています。「彼らは出て行って、至る所で福音を宣べ伝えた。主は彼らとともに働き、みことばに伴うしるしをもって、みことばを確かなものとされた。」
イエスは今すでに御言葉を証明していますが、私は終末リバイバルにおいて、イエスはさらに多くのしるしを示してくださると信じます。また、イエスは、ご自分を信じる者は主がなさったことよりもさらに大きな業をなすという約束も守ってくださると信じます (ヨハネ 14:12)。イエスが約束を守ってくださることを信じましょう。ヨハネ14:12の信者になりましょう。
