Devotion 1 of 1: Ps 136
In this psalm, the phrase, “For His mercy endures forever” is repeated in the last half of every verse a total of 26 times! And in the 1st half of most of the verses, we see story of Israel’s deliverance from Egypt, passage through the wilderness and victory in the Promised Land.
The iconic journey of Israel from Egypt (1) through the wilderness (2) to the Promised Land (3) applies not only to the Jewish nation, but also to the spiritual growth of Christians as well as to the restoration of the church.
To the Christian it represents his/her growth from salvation to learning to walk in the Spirit to achieving full maturity in Christ.
To the church Israel’s journey represents the church’s restoration journey through the Protestant Reformation of 1517, the Pentecostal Movement of 1906 and the LDR of 20??, which will bring her to full maturity in Christ!
This psalm serves to remind us of a very important truth…that neither spiritual growth nor church restoration would be possible without the mercy of the Lord, which endures forever! Let’s never forget that!

この詩篇では、「その恵みはとこしえまで」というフレーズが、各節の後半で合計 26 回繰り返されています。ほとんどの節の前半では、イスラエルがエジプトから解放され、荒野を通り抜け、約束の地で勝利する物語が描かれています。
エジプト (1) から荒野 (2) を通り、約束の地 (3) に至るイスラエルの象徴的な旅は、イスラエルだけでなく、クリスチャンの霊的成長や教会の回復にも当てはまります。
クリスチャンにとって、それは救いから聖霊のバプテスマと聖霊に導かれる歩み、そしてキリストにあって完全に成熟するまでの成長を表しています。
教会にとって、イスラエルの旅は、1517年のプロテスタント宗教改革、1906年のペンテコステ運動、そして20??年の終末リバイバルを通じた教会の回復の旅を表しています。それによって教会はキリストにあって完全に成熟する身丈に達するでしょう！
更に、この詩篇は、私たちに重要な真実を思い出させてくれます…とこしえまで続く主の恵みがなければ、霊的成長も教会の回復もあり得ないということです！それを決して忘れないようにしましょう！
