Devotion 1 of 2: 1 Sam 17
In this chapter we see one of the most famous stories in the Bible, the story of David and Goliath. David represents the LDC and Goliath, AC. Let’s look at several points that will give us valuable spiritual lessons.
Goliath was 6 cubits and a span tall (v.4). His spear was like a weaver’s beam and its spearhead weighed 600 shekels (v.7). And in total, his armor and weapons numbered 6. So, there were three 6’s associated with Goliath, which correspond to the 666 in Rev 13:18, which is the number of AC! Rev 13:7 tells how AC kills the LDC, but 1 Sam 17 tells how the LDC defeats AC! How we understand these 2 stories will greatly affect our eschatology. Let’s have the right understanding!
In v.28, David’s eldest brother, Eliab, sneeringly asks David, “Why did you come down here?” To this, David replies in v.29, “Is there not a cause?” I believe this reply is prophetic and has 3 answers to it: 1) The reason (cause) is to deliver to you 3 brothers the food from Father! 2) To defeat Goliath and lead Israel to victory over the Philistines! And 3) To show the church that it’s possible to defeat AC and spark a great revival in the endtime!
Let’s take these lessons from this famous story and apply them to us and transform ourselves from Saul’s army of defeat to David’s army of victory! Let’s overcome AC and bring revival to Japan!

Devotion 2 of 2: 1 Sam 18
Let’s look at 2 lessons to learn from this chapter. The 1st is Jonathan in v.1-4. Jonathan is a type of a sincere believer who loves the revival (David) but is also loyal to his denominational church (Saul). Although Jonathan’s heart is with David, he is never able to completely cut ties with his father Saul, so in the end he is killed with Saul in battle (1 Sam 31:8).
There will be many sincere believers who love Jesus and revival, but who don’t leave their denominational churches, and in the end, there is the danger that many of them will compromise with AC and worship his image and take his mark in order to survive physically. But sadly, they will die spiritually.
Another lesson is Saul’s jealousy and hatred toward David (v.8). When the women welcomed the army by singing that Saul had killed thousands but David ten thousands, Saul could not stand it. He realized that David was the one whom Samuel had prophesied would take over the kingdom, so he tried multiple times to kill him, but couldn’t.
Yes, sadly, most organized churches will not be able to accept the LDR. In fact, as often seen in church history, many in the old church will persecute the new church, thinking it is God’s will!
Let’s vow not to persecute a new movement or revival unless they are really, clearly heretical. Let’s always be humble and investigate new movements with open minds so that we don’t reject God.
