Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 113
V.7-8 say, “He raises the poor out of the dust, and lifts the needy out of the ash heap, that He may seat him with princes—with the princes of His people.” What a wonderful, kind God we have! He lifts the down-trodden out of the rubbish pile and seats them with royalty! We’re overwhelmed by His kindness! Let’s look at 2 examples from the Bible!
*Rahab was lifted up from a harlot into the lineage of King David and Jesus (Josh 2, 6; Matt 1).
*Gideon was transformed from Israel’s weakest man into the general who led them to victory (Judg 6-8).
I’m sure we could add our own story to the list above! And let’s continue to add the names of those around us who need to meet Jesus so their broken lives can be mended and lifted up to royalty, too!
Devotion 2 of 2: Rev 11
This is one of the most important chapters in Revelation. How we interpret the 2 witnesses of Rev 11 will determine a significant part of our endtime understanding. Are they 2 individuals prophesying and witnessing to the Jews in Jerusalem? Or do they represent the whole church preaching the gospel to the world and bringing forth a global revival?
My opinion is that the 2 witnesses symbolize the LDC, the glorious, revival church of the last days! Here are some of my reasons:
*I believe the 2 witnesses were killed, not in Jerusalem, but in Babylon, the world. “Their dead bodies will lie in…the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified” (v.8). Jesus was crucified not INSIDE, but OUTSIDE Jerusalem (Heb 13:12). And Jerusalem was not called Sodom or Egypt, rather, Babylon, or the world, was, and Babylon is where the blood of all martyrs is found (Rev 17:6; 18:24)!
*How can two witnesses only in Jerusalem torment the world? They can’t! But the church doing judgment around the world can! After 2 witnesses killed, their bodies weren’t buried but put on display. “And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, and send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth” (v.10).
*Whole world will see their resurrection and rapture, not only those in Jerusalem! “…after the 3.5 days the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them. And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they ascended to heaven in a cloud, and their enemies saw them” (v.11-12).
*This is the mid-trib rapture! The dead in Christ will rise 1st, then the living will also be raptured! If only 2 in Jerusalem, impact very small. Unbelieving TV stations will not broadcast. Enemy will not see. They will not hear voice to “Come up here!” (v.12). So, I believe this will take place through millions of martyrs around the world and will be the greatest witness of Jesus in history! Then, after entering T2, many will repent and believe Jesus, and many compromising Christians will return to Christ.
Let’s ask the Lord to help us to understand the many images used in Revelation. God wants us to understand His endtime plan that He gave to John, and He is unsealing up in the last days. The time for God to reveal His plan is now! Lord, help us to hear Your voice! Help us to understand!
