Devotion 1 of 2: Amos 5
This chapter describes N. Israel’s sins of seeking cities which had temples for idolatry (v.5), of social injustice against the poor (v.7, 10-15), and of false worship (v.21-26). God declared He would judge Israel by various punishments, including devouring them by fire (v.6) and sending them to captivity (v.27)!
In endtime application, N. Israel represents the lukewarm Laodicean Church and the believers who fall away by compromising and worshiping AC’s image. Let’s love our brethren and warn them of the consequences of lukewarmness!

本章は、偶像礼拝の宮がある町々を求めた罪（5節）、貧しい者に対する社会的抑圧・不正の罪（7、10〜15節）、そして偽りの礼拝の罪（21〜26節）という北イスラエルの罪を描写している。神は、火によって彼らを焼き尽くすこと（6節）や、彼らを捕囚として送ること（27節）を含む、多様な処罰によってイスラエルをさばくと宣言された。
終末への適用において、北イスラエルは、生ぬるいラオデキアの教会や、妥協して反キリストの像を拝むことによって脱落する信者たちを象徴している。私たちは兄弟たちを愛し、生ぬるさのもたらす結末について彼らに警告しよう。
Devotion 2 of 2: John 17
This chapter contains Jesus’ famous prayer to the Father for His people (v.9). In v.1, Jesus prayed, “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You.” He continued with a similar prayer in v.5.
Jesus was speaking of His being arrested, beaten, condemned and crucified! This was when He would be glorified! We must understand this truth! We, too, will be glorified with Christ when we are persecuted in the endtime (Rev 13:7; 11:7)! Let’s not avoid it but face it with courage, like Jesus did!

本章には、イエスが御父にご自分の民のための有名な祈りが含まれている（9節）。1節で、イエスは「父よ。時が来ました。あなたの子を栄光に輝かせてください。子があなたを栄光に輝かすためです」と祈られた。さらに5節でも同様の祈りを続けられた。
イエスが語られたのは、ご自分が逮捕され、打たれ、有罪とされ、十字架につけられることであった！ これこそ、イエスが栄光に輝かされる時であった。私たちはこの真理を理解しなければならない！ 私たちもまた、終末の時代に迫害されるとき、キリストと共に栄光に輝かされるのである（黙13:7、11:7）。イエスのように、それを避けず、勇気を持って立ち向かおう！
