Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 88
Some psalms were written in depths of despair, crying out to God for help. The author of this psalm was nearing death (v.3-12) and asked why God had cast off his soul (v.13-14). This was the very circumstance that John the Baptist was in when he sent his disciples to ask Jesus if He was really the Messiah (Matt 11).
John was the 1st Elijah (Matt 17:10-13), so he was a type of the LDC, which will be the 2nd Elijah (Mal 4:5-6). When we are imprisoned by AC and waiting execution, we, too, will experience fear, like John. At that time, let’s remember this psalm and not fear martyrdom for Jesus!

いくつかの詩篇は絶望の淵で書かれ、助けを求めて神に叫び求めている。この詩篇の著者は死に直面しており（3–12節）、なぜ神が自分の魂を突き放されたのかと問うた（13–14節）。これはまさに、バプテスマのヨハネが自分の弟子たちを送り、イエスに本当にメシアなのかどうかを尋ねさせたときに置かれていた状況であった（マタイ11章）。

Devotion 2 of 2: 3 John 1
Dr. David Yonggi Cho, the founding pastor of the large Yoido Full Gospel Church, often preached on v.2: “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” He preached that God wanted His people to prosper in our total being, physically, mentally and spiritually.
Dr. Cho almost died from TB, but was miraculously healed by Jesus and became a Christian. When he began his church in 1958, Korea was still very poor. His church grew because he preached a God of blessing! Let’s also believe God wants to bless us!
