Devotion 1 of 2: Num 1
This chapter gives the results of Israel’s first census of men aged 20 and above. Significantly, Judah was the largest tribe with 74,600 men (v.27). This was because Judah became a symbol of Jesus by sacrificing himself to save his brother, Benjamin (Gen 44:33). Also, this made Judah the kingly tribe, birthing David and Jesus!
By contrast, Manasseh was the smallest tribe with 32,200 (v.35). And to show the weak can defeat the strong, God chose Gideon, the least in his family from the weakest clan in Manasseh, to defeat Midian (Judges 6:15)!

Devotion 2 of 2: Num 2
In this chapter, the names of the 12 tribes are listed according to their camping order from east, south, west, and north of the tabernacle. The Bible records these details for a purpose. I believe it is because it shows the order that the tribes were engraved on the stones of the breastplate of the High Priest (Ex 28:17-21).
Most Bible teachers believe the order of the tribes’ names was according to their birth, but I believe the order was according to their camping order, as recorded here! So that’s why this chapter important! Cannot explain more.
