Devotion 1 of 2: Jer 30

This chapter is a prophecy of God’s plan to restore both Israel and Judah from captivity to the land (v.1). Often, we think only Judah was restored, and the 10 northern tribes never returned, but we should know that many Jews from the tribes of Levi (2 Chron 11:13-14), Ephraim, Manasseh, Simeon, etc. (2 Chron 15:9) moved from northern Israel to southern Judah when they saw God was with Judah! So, there were northern tribespeople among the captives in Babylon, too.
In application to the last days, God wants to fully restore as many churches and as many Christians as possible, even if they are from various denominations that are not normally thought of as “revival-thinking” churches! I’m sure that many Catholics, Protestant mainline church members, Evangelicals, independents, etc. will join in the LDR when they see God working in glory and power! Let’s love and work together with all revival believers!

Devotion 2 of 2: Rom 2

In the 1st 3 chapters of Romans, Paul acts like a prosecutor pointing out the sins of the Gentiles (ch. 1), the Jews (ch. 2) and all mankind (ch. 3)! So, in chapter 2, Paul is putting the Jews on the stand as the defendant. And what he says applies to Christians, too.
Paul accuses the Jews of judging the Gentiles, who didn’t have the Law (v.1-2), so they were committing many sins and breaking the Law! But, Paul says, the Jews were committing the same sins (v.21-24)! The Jews fell into the trap of legalism and judging, which we Christians also tend to do!
When we know the Bible and what is right, we tend to look at those who do what is wrong with a critical eye, judging them for their sins. We must fight against this temptation! Let’s never forget that, if not for the grace of God, we would be no different from the unbelievers around us.
