Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 109
MON, 11/16 (1/2)
PS 109: Free sharing!
This psalm is about false accusers and what judgment they receive. Let’s summarize this psalm.
*Some characteristics of false accusations:
They: are wicked and deceitful (v.2a), speak lies (v.2b), use words of hatred (v.3b), and fight without a cause, or accuse without proof (v.3b). Also, they repay love with accusation (v.4a), good with evil, and love with hatred (v.5)! Awful!
*Some judgments false accusers will receive:
They will be accused (v.6) and found guilty (v.7), others will take their office (v.8) and creditors will seize their assets (v.11).
Recently the above happened to a famous lawyer and former New York City Mayor. In the 2020 U.S. Presidential election, he accused 2 state election workers of sneaking in ballots in suitcases, scanning ballots multiple times to benefit Joe Biden and tampering with voting machines. He showed videos as evidence.
This resulted in the 2 African-American ladies receiving many violent and racist voicemails and other threats that caused them to constantly fear being harmed or killed. Their lives were turned into a complete nightmare, as they even feared going to work or leaving their house.
However, after investigating the case for a whole year, no evidence was found of wrong-doing by the 2 election workers. All the accusations were proven false. The former mayor finally admitted that his claims were mistaken. A jury awarded the 2 women a staggering $148M (222億円ぐらい) in damages for defamation and compensation for the suffering they went through.
The former mayor has been ordered to pay the penalty for his lies. He claimed bankruptcy, so the court ordered him to sign over his Manhattan condo and various invaluable assets to the 2 ladies. His lawyer’s license has been permanently revoked.
Because he was mayor of NYC when the World Trade Center attack took place, and he rallied the nation to rebuild and fight back, he was once the most respected mayor in the whole country. But because of his wrong actions, he is broke, disbarred and has lost his reputation.
Let’s never falsely accuse others of wrongdoing. If we must make a statement about someone’s misconduct, it should be supported by strong, truthful evidence. Lord, help us to never speak false accusations.
Devotion 2 of 2: Rev 7
This chapter describes the 144,000 Jews who were sealed on their foreheads (v.1-8). They must be sealed before T2's disasters can begin (v.3). This chapter also describes the innumerable number of people who will be saved in the greatest revival in history that will take place during the tribulation (v.9-17).
The Jews in v.1-8 may be the overcoming Messianic Jews who will join in the endtime harvest with the LDC during T1. The LDC, who are the 2 witnesses of Rev 11, will preach the gospel to all the world as prophesied in Matt 24:14, resulting in a great harvest of souls so numerous that it will be impossible to count as Rev 7:9-14 says! I am personally seeking God to save at least half of mankind based on Matt 24:40-41: Two will be in the field, one will be taken and the other left.
Let’s make v.9-14 the goal of our lives! Let’s seek for that revival to happen in Japan with millions coming to Christ!
