Devotion 1 of 1: Judg 7
Perhaps the greatest lesson we can learn from Gideon is that size doesn’t matter when God works! Not only was Gideon the least in his father’s house in the weakest clan in Manasseh, the smallest tribe (6:15, Num 1:35), but God cut his army down from 32,000 men to 10,000, and then to a mere 300 men (v.2-8)! God wants us to know that Gideon was small and had no possibility to win only by his own strength!
And yet, Gideon and his puny army of 300 were able to defeat the thousands of Midianite soldiers (v.20-25)! We can apply this to the LDC in Japan, whose numbers at the beginning will be less than half of 1 percent of Japan’s population. Let’s believe that what God did for Gideon, He will also do for us! Let’s confess that although AC will look invincible, God can use the David Church to topple the Goliath of the endtime!
JUDG 8: Free sharing!
The number of soldiers in Midian’s army was 135,000 (v.10). God used Gideon’s army of 300 men to defeat them! 135,000 ÷ 300 = 450! Just 1 of Gideon’s soldiers was able to topple 450 Midianite soldiers! This is about the ratio of true Christians in Japan compared to the whole population today! Let’s look at the calculations below.
When I asked what is the average number of Christians who attend worship in Japan, Google AI answered about 0.22% of the population. That means about 275,000 people. Some believers may be absent, but some non-believers are in attendance, so that number may represent the actual number of born-again believers.
The population of Japan is about 125M, and when I divided 125M by 275K, the ratio came out to be 455, very close to the ratio of Gideon’s army to Midian’s!
So let’s confess that if God can do it for Gideon, He can do it for Japan! O Lord, bring forth a mighty victory of the LDC in Japan over AC and Satan through a great revival, we pray!
