Devotion 1 of 1: Ps 73

This is a psalm written by Asaph, an anointed musician, worship leader and seer in David’s day. He experienced what many of us experience—frustration when we see the wicked prospering (v.2-14). He was so upset, that he almost stumbled (v.2), and was plagued all day long (v.14)!
But Asaph was finally able to overcome! How? By entering God’s sanctuary and presence (v.15-17)! In God’s presence, Asaph fellowshipped with the Almighty and began to see things as God saw them. His eyes were opened, and he finally saw how the wicked ended—how they would be cast down to destruction and consumed with terrors (v.18-20)!
Therefore, whenever we think life is unfair and evil is winning while righteousness is losing, let us not be deceived by Satan’s lies, but let’s resolve to enter God’s sanctuary (church or our prayer room), where His presence is! And by fellowshipping with God, let’s learn to see how God sees!

1 PET 1: Free sharing!
One of the great mysteries which was prophesied in the OT was the mystery of Christ. Not His coming as a deliverer to set up the kingdom of Israel, but His coming as a Savior to die on the cross for the salvation of mankind. Peter refers to this mystery in v.10-12.
Other mysteries that were prophesied in the OT are the growth, downfall and restoration of Israel and the church. The Jews in Jesus’ day thought the restoration of Israel would be in the form of a kingdom on earth right away, but they were vastly mistaken. God’s plan was to disperse Israel for 1878 years (70AD-1948), and then to rebirth the nation, restore Jerusalem as the capital, then reconcile the Jews to their Messiah at the end of time so they can become the people of God once more!
Like Israel, in the last days, the full restoration of the church will also be understood and accomplished. The church will be transformed into what it was called to be—the glorious, powerful body of Christ on earth that will save, heal, deliver and lead perhaps 1/2 of mankind to Christ!
Let’s pray for the great mysteries of the Scriptures to be fulfilled through salvation, Israel and the church!
