Devotion 1 of 1: Joel 3
This chapter is a description of the endtime Battle of Armageddon between AC and his forces against Israel. Many nations will cooperate with AC to attack Israel (v.2, 9, 11, 12).
Valley of Jehoshaphat, Valley of Decision:
A part of this battle will take place in the Valley of Jehoshaphat (v.2, 12), which some scholars have identified as the Kidron Valley, which lies between Jerusalem and the Mt. of Olives. When Jesus returns to earth to destroy AC and save the Jews, he will descend on the Mt. of Olives, so it’s very possible that the Kidron Valley will be a crucial Armageddon battle site. This site is also called the Valley of Decision (v.14).
Grape harvest and winepress:
Jesus will put in the sickle, reap a ripe grape harvest, fill the winepress and cause the vats to overflow (v.13). This image is also used in Rev 14:14-20 to describe Jesus defeating AC’s army at the Battle of Armageddon.
Jesus will judge the nations and save Judah:
Jesus will enter into judgment with the nations (v.2, 12). The Lord will roar from Zion (v.16); promises forgiveness for Judah (v.20-21).
Let’s pray Israel will survive AC’s invasion and the remnant will be saved!
