Devotion 1 of 1: Isa 52
This is a wonderful, inspiring chapter about God restoring Israel from the oppression of Egypt, Assyria (v.4) and also Babylon (hinted by the words: “my people are taken away for nothing? v.5).
When Israel was in captivity, they wailed in pain and misery, and the Lord’s name was blasphemed every day by the enemy (v.5). But the good news of salvation was proclaimed, the people of God were restored before the nations, and they could rejoice once more (v.7-10)!
The price for mankind’s redemption is briefly mentioned in v.14: Jesus’ face and body were terribly scarred more than any other human! Let’s never forget the price that Jesus paid to redeem and restore us to God!
PHILI 3: Free sharing!
Although Paul was perhaps the greatest missionary and apostle in church history, he said that he hadn’t yet attained, but he forgot the past and reached to the future and pressed toward the goal for the prize of the high call of God in Christ Jesus (v.12-14)!
I believe God has a great plan for the church, and that’s what Paul was aiming for! God wants to raise up a church that will do even greater works than Jesus did, as John 14:12 promises! And God wants to use that church to reap an endtime harvest that cannot be counted from every nation, tribe and language, as Rev 7:9-14 prophesy!
We are living in the generation that can see Paul’s dream come true! Let’s reach to the future and press toward the goal for the prize of the high call of God in Christ Jesus and become the LDC that God wants to raise up!
