Devotion 1 of 2: Isa 38

Although Hezekiah was a good king, one day God told him through Isaiah that he would die (v.1). Isaiah prayed for mercy and wept bitterly so God mercifully granted him 15 more years to live (v.2-5). So how did Hezekiah use this gift of extra life from God? Let’s learn a valuable lesson and apply it to our lives.
Hezekiah used this gift of extra life in a wonderful way when he was able to lead Judah to its supernatural victory over King Sennacherib of Assyria (v.6) as described in Is 37!
But, sadly, Hezekiah also made a huge blunder when he used the extra time God had given to him to show the emissaries from Babylon all the treasures of his house (v.2)! Isaiah prophesied to him that because he had done that, one day Babylon would take all those treasures away to their own country (v.3-7)!
How do we use the gifts of time, life, our bodies, our talents, our money, etc., that God has given to us? Let’s use them to fulfill God’s plans and save souls, and not use them foolishly and squander them away!

Devotion 2 of 2: Gal 1

Paul wrote Galatians to establish the gospel and salvation of Christ on faith and not on works. V.6-8 say, “I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.”
When we think our salvation depends on our works, Paul says we are believing in a different gospel (v.6); we are perverting the gospel of Christ (v.7)! Paul even claims our lives will become accursed!
Let’s study Galatians with a diligent attitude, and really learn the gospel of grace!
