Devotion 1 of 1: Isa 5
In this chapter God uses a parable of the unfruitful vineyard to show Judah their sins (v.1-7). Jesus also used this same picture to illustrate Israel’s rejection of him as God’s Son (Matt 21:33-46).
In the end, Isaiah warned that their sins would cause nations from afar to invade and take them captive (v.26-30). This was ultimately fulfilled by Assyria conquering northern Israel in 722BC and by Babylon initially defeating southern Judah in 605BC and totally defeating them in 586BC.
Israel never was restored but through repentance and God’s mercy, Judah was restored in 536BC.
Before modern Israel gets fully restored and saved, they, too, will suffer from much persecution by many enemies, including AC. AC will finally cause Israel to repent and accept Jesus as Messiah, and they will once more become God’s children (Zech 12:10-13:1)!
