Devotion 1 of 1: 1 Cor 2
This chapter parallels some of Jesus’ teaching on why he spoke in parables (Matt 13:10-17). Speaking in parables is like speaking the wisdom of God in a mystery (v.7). The rulers and people of this world don’t understand (v.8-9). But God reveals them to his chosen through the Spirit (v.10).
So the key to understanding is listening to the Spirit (v.11-13). The natural mind doesn’t understand these mysteries and parables because they appear as foolishness (v.14). But the spiritual will understand, although they will be judged by others, but not in the right way (v.15). Understanding mysteries and parables is how we find the mind of Christ (v.16)!
