Devotion 1 of 2: Deut 28
There are 14 verses of blessings in this chapter, but 53 verses of curses! This should cause us to realize that the problem of disobedience to God’s commands is not an insignificant issue, but something that demands our utmost attention!
We need to seriously consider our spiritual position before God and honestly admit that we sin and take responsibility for it by confessing our sins and asking for forgiveness. When we do that, God readily offers forgiveness and removes our sins from us as far as the east is from the west!
Praise God for the wonderful solution to our sin problem through the cross of Christ! Thank you, Jesus, so much for your great love and sacrifice for us!

Devotion 2 of 2: Rom 12
V.21 is one of the most powerful verses in the Bible: “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” I saw an illustration of this in women’s basketball in the U.S.
The greatest woman college basketball player in history, Caitlin Clark, graduated in May and entered the professional WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association) in June. But many famous WNBA players criticized her, saying she wouldn’t be able to play that well because the WNBA level is much higher than the college level.
This created a lot of backlash from fans because they were excited that Caitlin Clark was entering the WNBA and were eagerly waiting to see her play! And Caitlin herself did not react with anger to those criticisms, but humbly said that she would have to improve to be able to compete in the WNBA.
Many fans applauded her response and criticized those who attacked her. So some of the famous players realized they had made a mistake and changed their attitude toward Caitlin. They began praising her for how she was drawing record numbers of people to come to WNBA games. This won approval from the fans, and their respect for the famous athletes was restored.
Like Caitlin, let’s not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good!
