Devotion 1 of 2: Deut 7

Just as Israel had a special calling from God to be a holy people and a special treasure on the earth (v.6), so the church has been given the same calling because we are now the spiritual Israel on earth, as Rom 2:28-29 say: “For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly…but he is a Jew who is one inwardly…in the Spirit...”
But because Israel didn’t really grasp the greatness and the responsibility of their high calling, they forgot what Moses instructed them to do and compromised with the world, worshiped pagan idols and brought upon themselves curses instead of blessings (v.25-26)!
Let us never forget our high calling to be the bride of Christ, the King of the Universe, and to be the glorious LDC that will bring salvation and revival to hundreds of millions of people in every nation around the world!

Devotion 2 of 2: Mark 7

In v.24-30 is the story of the Syro-Phoenician woman asking Jesus to heal her daughter. Although Jesus rejected her request, in the end she did get the healing for her daughter! How? We want to learn from her faith so we, too, can receive the things we pray to the Lord for!
I believe her request was granted because although rejected, she didn’t give up! She took the negative answer that Jesus gave her and changed it into a positive one that even Jesus had to accept as true! Let’s turn every negative into a positive in our everyday lives!
