Devotion 1 of 2: Ps 35
David is going through much suffering and persecution from his enemies when he wrote this psalm. What is amazing is that in v.12-14, he says when his enemies were sick, he fasted for them and worried and mourned for them as if they were his friend, brother or even mother! But they rewarded his good with evil!
David is likely talking about when King Saul was vexed by evil spirits, how he prayed for him and also played music for his healing. Like David, let’s cry to God for protection when some we helped in the past turns against us! God will surely hear our prayers and bring forth deliverance!

Devotion 2 of 2: Ps 36
I feel that some parts of the psalms can be applied to a political leader today who constantly speaks lies and deceit, like what v.3 says, “The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; he has ceased to be wise and to do good.” This leader was found guilty of 34 felony counts in a trial recently and instead of showing remorse after the verdict, he again spoke more words of anger and deceit.
One reason why he lost his case was because of the strategy he used, which was to deny he did anything wrong. This was foolish and backfired as the prosecution had so many witnesses and pieces of evidence that showed his wrongdoings.
Let us not speak deceitfully, but honestly, and admit our sins and repent of them when they are pointed out to us. The Lord will forgive us, and our lives will be set on the right path again!
