Devotion 1 of 2: Gen 15
God promised to give Abraham the land of Canaan from the river of Egypt to the Euphrates River (v.18). Some believe the river of Egypt means the Nile. But that would mean much of Egypt would become part of Israel.
Many scholars believe it should be other rivers closer to the actual border between Israel and Egypt today, like the Wadi el-Arish in the town of El-Arish, a little south of today’s actual Egypt-Israel border. Let’s believe and claim Japan as our land today!

Devotion 2 of 2: Gen 16
Abram had lived in Canaan for 10 years when he was tested by Sarai’s suggestion of having an heir through Hagar (v.3). Abram did it, and it turned into a disaster. Hagar conceived and despised Sarai for being barren, so Sarai treated her harshly, causing Hagar to run away (v.4-6). Hagar eventually gave birth to Ishmael (v.15), but after Isaac was born, Ishmael scoffed at Isaac, making Sarah angry. She demanded that Hagar and Ishmael be cast out of the house (21:9-10), so they were cast out, but God blessed Ishmael because he was Abraham’s seed (21:13).
Ishmael became the father of the Arab nations, which produced the Muslim religion that is such a thorn in the side of the world! So because Abraham failed the test of waiting with patience, the whole world has been vexed by the Muslim religion! Let us seek God when we are tested so he will empower us to pass the test!
