Devotion 1 of 2: Hos 7
V.1 says Ephraim (Israel) committed fraud. This is exactly what a political leader and his family have been found guilty of in a court case that is happening right now. This news is being broadcast every day and will continue until the case ends perhaps in a week or two. Their company has been found guilty of undervaluing their worth when they had to pay taxes, saving them hundreds of millions of dollars over a 10-year span. Then, when they needed bank loans, their company overvalued their worth by billions of dollars in order to get loans at a lower interest rate. It is estimated that their company gained $250M by fraud, so this is probably the penalty they will have to pay, although it may go up or down, depending on the final verdict.

Devotion 2 of 2: John 7
1) Jesus and the common people of that day never received an education.
2) I think Luke 2:46-50 gives us the answer as to how Jesus learned to read and write: He learned by listening to teachers at the synagogue and asking questions and discussing. Of course, he also learned by talking with the Father.
