Devotion 1 of 2: 1 John 2
1) “That person is causing problems because of a hurt or some other cause. How can I help by showing support and understanding so that that person can overcome his problem?” He doesn’t think that person is bad, so he doesn’t stumble. To love = to abide in light = to not see others as bad = to think, “How can I help that person?”
2) “That person causing problems is wrong, so I’ll correct or point out his bad actions.” But usually the correcting leads to arguing and conflicts! He thinks that person is bad, so that causes him to stumble.

Devotion 2 of 2: Prov 26
Verses 4 & 5 are interesting: “Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you also be like him. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes.” They are saying to do the exact opposite things! So which one is true and which is false? I think these verses show a principle we need to know in order to read the Scriptures correctly: SOME VERSES APPLY TO CERTAIN SITUATIONS AND PEOPLE, AND OTHER VERSES APPLY TO OTHER SITUATIONS AND PEOPLE. We should not apply each verse to all situations and all people. So, for v.4-5, sometimes we should not answer a fool, and at other times, we should answer him! We need to follow God’s leading for each situation! (To be continued...)
